These three sculptures each have a long, tube-like body and a larger, fan-like backside. The top sculpture has a yellowish sort of skin, the middle sculpture is metallic, and the bottom sculpture is stony-looking.

I get a kick out of creating artwork out of unexpected materials, or subverting the expectations people have about certain materials—such as making organic objects out of technological materials. "Skin" was made from a strange-looking tree branch covered in a bunch of layers of latex. I copied the same shape in welded steel, and after finding chunks of concrete that were roughly the right shape, I carved them to match the profile of the other sculptures more closely, then pinned them together and coated the finished sculpture with concrete to give it a consistent color and give it the appearance of "Stone."
